Wow, an amazing bit of video. It's amazing how, aside from the political intrusions of John McCain, John Kerry, and the occasional spectral invocation in the context of Iraq, Vietnam has so fully faded from American pop and political consciousness. Growing up, I had a distinct impression of the aftermath of that war, primarily through the fact that the kids whose fathers had gone to war (or actively not gone to war) were a little fucked up. The war, rightfully, inflicted its damage on the nations psyche. Yet, somehow, the slick veneer of the 80s, the comfort of the 90s, and our new ennui here at the dawn of the 21st century have seemingly washed away any real memory of the war. The first TV war. Well, the documents still exist, and they are worth watching.
