Roadtrip!
A collection of strange buildings. Of the hundred shown, I think I've been to about ten (those in Barcelona, London, Las Vegas, and the Bay Area), and maybe seen another five from the road... Time to buy at ticket?
As We Go Up, We Go Down
Relatively interesting, albeit cursory, article in the Times about the rises and falls of development in New York City. The fate of New York as the United States cedes its empire grows more interesting by the day. Anybody have any recommendations for articles on the rise and fall of great cultural capitals? I think that a cross-disciplinary (ethnographic, financial, political, architectural) study that both analyzed and brought to life the relative rise and fall of great cities through time would be fascinating.
